Travel booking

The client

An adventure travel company in Los Angeles running small group trips around the world, from Mauritius and the Seychelles to Ireland, Greenland and Alaska, plus private trips for families and teams.

What they needed

Trips came in many shapes, with different dates, group sizes and add-ons. Bookings had to be taken and paid for online, and a failure in their domain and email setup was stopping the business from working at all.

The hard part

No two trips are alike. Each has its own dates, length, activity level and terms, and many travellers want something planned just for them. Meanwhile a broken domain and email setup meant messages were not reaching customers at all, which stopped bookings before they started.

How we approached it

  1. 1

Fix what was stopping the business first

Before any new feature, we put the domain and email right, so enquiries and confirmations reached people again.

  2. 2

One booking flow, many kinds of trip

Each trip carries its own options, and the booking form adapts to them, so the team adds a new trip without asking for a new form.

  3. 3

    Paid means booked

Travellers RSVP and pay from their own member account, and a booking is confirmed the moment Stripe says the payment has cleared.

  4. 4

    A concierge for everything else

A form that asks for party size, dates, countries and the activities people want, so the team can plan a private trip in one reply.

What we built

  • Booking forms that adapt to each trip's options.
  • Card payments with Stripe, where each booking is confirmed the moment the payment clears.
  • A concierge flow for travellers who want a trip planned around them.
  • Their domain and email fixed and set up properly, so messages reach customers again.

Tell us what you're building.

A few lines is plenty. You don't need a spec, and a person will write back.
